CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

A meeting of the Committee was held at Mr Wilding's office at 6 p.m, yesterday \ weeent—Dr Maobeao Stewart (chair), Major Lean, Meesrs , Osmpbell, Hunt, Mitchell, Sutherland, A.O. Wilson and Secretary. The Secretary reported that the contractor for the Lancaster Perk pavilion would have tho grandstand ready for dan. 2, and that amniemente had been made for the erection of a dancing platform 20ft square. The Secretary also reported having received ISO entriee for the various events, chiefly for the handicaps. It was decided to allow poet entries for all events except the handicap*. For the Tog of War, Is wss fixed as the entrance fee per man. Only one entry having been received for tho band competition, the Secretary was authorised to make arrangement* for engaging Button'* Band to play during the day. It wa* decided that trophic* should be given as prizes for the Bioyolo Base. Mr Sutherland offered prize*—lst, £8 2s j 2nd, £1 Is—for but Highland dress, open to boys under 14, and the item was added to the programme. Mr Sutherland reported that the arrangements for taking gate money were complete, and that department was left under his core. It was also arranged (hat steward* should wear tartan rosettes, and judges, tartan rosettes end blue ribbon, and that a board should bo provided on whioh to announce the names of the winners and the next event.

Messrs Sutherland, Mitchell and the Score* tary were appointed a subcommittee to open and decide upon tenders for the various privileges, and Messrs Hunt, Campbell, Mitchell and the Secretary a sub-Oommittee to arrange order of programme. The Secretary waa instructed to see the various 'bus proprietors, and try and arrange for tboir service* on Monday. Mr M. Lewtn was added to the Committee, and the judges were appointed as follows: For tho Highland dances, music and dress, for tossing the caber, throwing the hammer, putting the stone and wrestling, Dr Stewart, and Messrs Watt, Campbell S. Bobertson, Mookay and Urquhart. For the other events—Messrs A.O. Wilson, H. A. Watt, J. Campbell. W. B. Mitchell, F. Bobinson, T. D. Oondell and M. Lewin.
