WHERE SPARROWS BUILD.
TO ins EDITOB. Bxk,—l8 xk, —l believe it has been mooted more than once whether sparrows build their neat* on the ground or not. To-day I had conclusive proof that they do, as I found three neats while cutting ryegrass for hay. One contained young sparrows, while the other two contained eggs. The nests were about the size of a goose egg, formed in the ground, and lined with feathers and dry grass.—l am, &0., H. A. COVENTRY FEEQUBSON. Lanidowne, Christchurch, Deo. 26.
