At tSannyside yesterday divine rerr.ee was held in the large, hall, at 10 a.m. The Ctristma* c inner of the inmates consisted of rawt pork, new potatoes, cabbage, plum pudding, and come gooseberry pies. The afternoon was spent in the ground* by as assay patients as possible, and extra tobacco was dijtri-'uted oa the occasion. The entrance to the satis corridor was almost blocked up with an archway cf dense greenery brightened with artificial flowers, while along the walls hung festoaar of similar character. Tne several ward# were in Hie manner made to remind the inmate* of the festival; the CM-Urt, the chimney piece*, and the walla being hung with wreaths, crorses, and legend*, in which the brightest colours were made to bit :d in harmony.
LYTTELTON. In accordance with tho old custom at Christmas time, the various hotels in Port were on Saturday decorated with greenery, ttd *0 were many of the shops in London street. Mr Ayers’ shop m Horwkk Quay w-fc- festooned with wreaths of evergreens and burcht* of scarlet geraniums and other d'jwm, and looked very well. On Saturday erer.iog Merer# Brews and Smith had an »tJ-.'-;:ns:ivo of Chinese lanterns, both inside i outride of iheir store.
