[Abode Specials j LONDON, Dxo. 18. Nothing has been heard of the balloon which drifted across the English Channel. Grave fears ore now entertained for toe safety of Mr Walter Powell, the member far Malmsbury, and the ether occupants. The French flag has been hoisted at Bai&tea or Ulieta, a mountainous bat exceedingly fertile island belonging to the Society Group, about 180 miles north-west of Tahiti, over which the French have long exorcised a protectorate. The island is about 40 miles in circumference.
A luge number of the victims at the calamity at the Bing Theatre, Vienna, were interred yesterday. The ceremony assumed the proportions of a semi-public funeral. The Government of Tunis have forcibly expelled the servants of Mr Levy, a British subject, from the Buflda Estate, which under the Moslem law of pre-emption he claims to. bo his property, in opposition to a counter claim nut forward by the Sooietc Marseillaise. The French company have been placed in possession of the estate. Great indignation is expressed in Vienna against the police and firemen who were present at the fire at the Bing Theatre for neglecting to break open the doors of the building, and time facilitate the escape of the immense audience. The managers of theatres in London have been officially warned to take every precaution to facilitate the escape of audiences in the event of an alarm of fire occurring. Several steamers expected from America and other foreign parte are overdue since the recent heavy gales in the Atlantic. Considerable alarm is felt for the safety of the misting vessels. Since the discovery of the outrage perpetrated upon the remains of Earl Crawford, steps have been taken, by direction of Her Majesty, to protect the Royal mausoleum at Frogmore Fhrk.
