[Rbutisr’b Telegrams.] AN AROHIEPIBOOPAL CIRCULAR. LONDON, Deo. 21. A circular ban boon loaned to tho English clergy, by Dr Tait, Archbishop of Canterbury, in which the latter proposes that more direct communication should bo established between tbe Homo and Colonial Churches, with the view to encourage the spread of Christian knowledge in the Colonies, and for tho spiritual benefit of emigrants. THE ACCIDENT TO THE PARBOEA. The claim against the ship Pareora for salvage, bos been settled by the owners paying £2OOO to the owners of the tng which towed tho vessel book to the Thames, after she had slipped her cables in tbe Downs. The amount claimed was £SOOO. ILLNESS OF ME PARNELL. LONDON, Dec. 22. Owing to ill health, Mr Parnell has been removed from Kilmainham to the gaol at Armagh. OPPOSITION OF LANDLORDS TO THE LAND ACT. A largely attended meeting of landlords has been held at Dublin, at which resolutions were passed condemning the Land Act, and setting forth the intention of the meeting to demand compensation from the State, for losses incurred through carrying out the provisions of the law. ENGLAND AND SPAIN. MADRID, Deo. 21. In the Cortes to-day, Seaor Armio, Minister for Foreign Affairs, announced that a protest had been recently sent by Spain to England against the charter granted to tbe North Borneo Trading Company, and that diplomatic correspondence was now proceeding between the British and Spanish Governments in regard to the matter.
THREATENED HOSTILITY OF ITALY. ROME, Dec. 22. Ib the Chamber of Deputies to-day Signor Manoini, Minister for Foreign Affairs made a statement, to the effect that the Italian Government would not recognise the Treaty concluded between the Bey and France, and was carefully watching the action of the latter country in Tonis. England, Signor Mannini added, had tacitly accepted the Franoo-Tonisian Treaty. COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE. LONDON, Deo. 22. Consols have advanced to 99f. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £11,250,000. Bank rate of discount remains at 5 per cent; market rate at sf. New Zealand securities are unchanged. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, remains at 56s ; New Zealand ditto, 525: Adelaide floor, ex store, 41s €d. Australian tallow —Best beef, 39s 6d; best mnfcton, 44s 6d.
