SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
PAPAKUI. A special meeting of the Papanui School Committeo was held on Saturday night j present—all the members. Tho Ohairman explained to the Committee the result of his interview with tbe Board of Education, re appointment of bead master, and it was moved by Mr John Low , seconded by Mr Oresswoll, and carried-—“ That tho explanation given by the Board be considered satisfactory. It was resolved that the whole of the applications, together with tho testimonials, bo sent to the Board of Education for them to seleot a gentleman to fill the position of Bead master for the Papanui school. Mr C. Calvert moved as an amendment— 1 ' That the Committee do at once proceed to select a gentleman from tho number of applicants to fill tho position of head master, as be (Mr Calvert) thought they wore quite as competent and more likely to give general satisfaction than by leaving it entirely in the hands of tho Board.” This was seconded by Mr John Low. The Ohairman put the amendment and then the resolution, and, after a show of hands, he declared the resolution carried. On tho resolution being carried the Ohairman declared his determination of resigning the chair. Tho meeting then adjourned.
