Tbs usual monthly meeting of the Leestou School Committee was held on Thursday evening U«t ; prrernt—Mr Barnett (Choirmar) Vfr-«*ra spring, Jeffrey, Lunn, Doyle, and M'larhlan. The Chairman reported having bed or e op two minor repairs effected to the school buddings ; also, that the meeting hfi been adjourned from the ordinary aucling night, on account of an election meeting. From the w’ f, autitoriring the Committee to advertise for a head master rice Mr Ford, resigned. From Mr Ford, stating that tho average attendance at the school was Improving, and asking to have tho school closed for a fortnight at Christmas. From Miss Bain, stating that the average attendance at the ride school for November had been 38*50. The Charm an was authorised to advcrtlte for a head master, applications to be •at in by the middle of January. It was Mucked that the school be closed for the Ohririmts holidays, from Deo. S 3 to Jan. 8. Mr Lunn suggested that the Committee ahenid endeavour to raise subscriptions from the parent* of the children attending the school to supplement the salary for the head master, so as to induce a really good man to coxae to Leeston. The question was freely discussed by the Committee, but was eventually adjourned tiT tho next meeting. Accounts amounting to £9 7* 2d were then passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
