Messrs H. Last week we recorded a drop of per head under previous sales, and; yester&y t£ra w» » still farther decline cl from fid to 1* per head on both fat and store sheep. Eclcrring to the latter prices for vonng sheep of any das* have up to the present time been well maintained, but at yesterday's auction there was very little demand, and sales, where ruled decidedly more in favour of buyers. In mutton, fully oae-third went out u% sold, the best cross-bred wethers being pttccd at from fia fid to 10s fid (one exceptionally good line at 12s) • medium quality, 8s fid to 9s; felt merino wethers, 6s to 7«. Of fat lambs there was a huge supply, but with Christmas dose at hand they were evidently wanted, and met with a good sale at from Cs fid to 8s fid for the best lota ; a few scrubbers at ss. The fat cattle sale brought forward a considerable entry of beef, the quality varying from veryinferlor to prime. Of the latter dssa Messrs Hay Brother* contributed one of the best line* of steers, which brought from £7lo* to £8 10* per head; mixed lots for various owners, £6 to £7loa, representing low sad unimproved rate*. The store cattle market was made up by a somewhat small entry, chiefly of yearling*, two-year-olds, and old cows. Where of any of the above were made prices ruled low and buyers had matters pretty much their own way; For good, fresh conditioned 3year old steers, however, £5 asd upwards is being asked, and in many instances mid. The totals yarded for the day comprised dal sheep, S3* head of cattle, and I*9 pigs, of which our entry included 3618 sheep, 468 fat lambs, 151 bead of cattle and S 3 pigs for Messrs John Deans, Hobcrton, C. Of tbe class of hones o> offer, there were none requiring spatial mention, the catalogue being made np ot n mixture of draughts, plough horses, backs unbroken colts, Ac. The attendance waa about as usual, with tbe addition of a few country buyers, and taken as a whole there was decidocly more spirit in the biddings for anything useful than nos been noticeable ot late.
