SUPREME COURT.
TIMAHU, Thuesday, Dbo. 16. (Before Hie Honor Mr Justice Johnston.) UNKATUBAL OFFKBOB. William Brown was charged with committing an unnatural offence at Tomuka on June 8 lost. Prisoner pleaded “ Not Guilty.” The evidence, which is unfit for publication, was heard, and the jury returned a verdict of ‘•Guilty” His Honor, in sentencing prisoner, said he had never heard a worse case, and sentenced prisoner to be kept in penal servitude for 15 yean. FAMB FBBTHFCES. John King, for many years an auctioneer in Timaru, was charged with obtaining a cheque for £49 from Hr Stone, hotelkeeper, by means of false pretences. Hr White prosecuted, and Mr Hamersley defended. Evidence was heard at great length, and the jury were absent for three hours considering their verdict. Oa returning into Court they found a verdict of “ Guilty,” with a recommendation to mercy. Bis Honbr sentenced prisoner to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour.
