ROAD BOARDS.
AVON. The usual meeting of this Board was held on Monday last} present—The Chairman, and Messrs Fleshor, Monro, and Danlop.— The report of the Surveyor was read and considered. With regard to M'Namara’a contract on Canal Reserve road, ho woe in* struoted to finish off the road within one week, or the Board will do so at his expense. —Messrs M'Malloy, Preston, and Spencer asked to have the road near Belfast shingled. To be considered in the estimates for next year.—Mr Oresswoll saw the Board, and asked that a culvert might be placed along thesido*obannel at the entrance to there* creation grounds, Sawyer’s Arms road. It was resolved that a culvert, 20ft long, bo put in,-—Correspondence was read:—From the Tramway Company, asking thsm to sanation the alteration of line aa per sketch enclosed. The Tramway Company to be informed that the Board are not in a position to give a reply, and bare instructed their Surveyor to inspect and report,—From Messrs Harper, on behalf of Mr Wansey, slating that it was in contemplation to erect wool-washing works, and protesting against the same,—From the 00-oponative Society, asking on what oondl* tions the Board will toko over roads. The Surveyor was instructed to inspect and report. —From Mr J. B. Gresion, on behalf of Mr H. 11. Gresion, re Sdgeware road and road leading from the North Town Belt. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Gresson that the term of this Board is expiring, and the roads referred to will be within the boundary of the Borough of St Albans, to whom the Board would recommend application to be made.—lt was resolved—" That a letter be written to the Government, urging upon it the necessity of at once putting In a public tiding at Belfast, as there is a large quantity of produce in the immediate neighbourhood i ana this Board formed and metalled a road to the station, with the understanding that the Government would put in a siding at once i and that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Hon W. Bolleston, as member for the district."—Application was made, on behalf of Mr Wild, tor assistance in building shed, Ac., at the pound. Papanui. —Accounts to the amount of 8888 4s 4d were passed and ordered to be paid t and the Board then adjourned till Monday, Deo. 10. ill
