It wae resolved to reply that the •; Board regrate it cannot comply with the request, aa the bridge would not be os public property.—From Messrs Colehan and Borgfeldt, roqueting permission to take a few loads of gravel from the reserve for private ute. Granted.—From the Sydenham Borough Council (in reply), stating that the work of laying down a concrete channel on the north side of the Lincoln road not being a work of maintenance, the Council would prefer that the Board construct the channel on it# own aide of the road, at lie own coit, under the supervision of the Council, and that when necessary the Council will construct a similar channel on the Sydenham side. It wae resolved to acknowledge receipt, and forward a copy of the Council's letter to person* petitioning for the channel. From the Selwyn County Council re maintenance of tho Park roads, and asking if the Board will undertake their supervision, the cost being repaid to tho Board, and it beiag understood that for any expenses beyond those for maintenance and repair, the concurrence of the Council be obtained. It was resolved to reply, that the Board will undertake tho superintendence of the Bark roade on tho term* mentioned. From the Sydenham Borough Council, enclosing an account for half cost of lowering the Lincoln road on the east ride *1 the railway line, amounting to the sum of £l9 18 s Id.— It wae resolved to forward a cheque for the amount promised by this Board, ns., £1316s Bd.—Tho Committee appointed to examine the condition of Sutcliffe bridge reported that tho under structure, being decayed, a new bridge was necessary, which they would recommend be constructed of timber. The Board approved of the Committee's suggestion, and the Surveyor was directed to carry out the work accordingly,—The Chairman reported that a pqblio meeting had been held here on Nov. 28, in accordance with clause 4 of the Public Works Act, for the purpose of deciding on the stoppage of the Biver-bank road, and that the following resolution lied been carried That in the opinion of this meeting, (hat portion of road running between R. 8.7448 and 4326, and coloured pink on tho plan dated August 16,1881, and certified to by Mr Davie, Licensed Surveyor, bo stopped.” The Board approved of the resolution passed at the puolto meeting of ratepayers, and it was resolved to forward the plans to the Selwyn County Council, with a full description of the proposed alterations, and their decision thereon.—ln accordance with resolution passed at last meeting, the Surveyor furnished a list of works necessary to be earned out before winter, with them estimated cost. The Board having considered the report, decided to defer inviting tenders until after harvest j and the Surveyor was directed to bring up the report again at next meeting.—lt was resolved to invite alternate tenders for supplying 500yds of boulders and quarry stone, returnable on Deo. 24. Tenders were received for gravelling the Ilam and Junction roads, and that of T. Oloridge was accepted.—lt was resolved that the annual meeting be held oa Friday, Jan. 6, 1882, and that Mr G. L. Lee be appointed HeturningOfficer, under the Regulation of Local Elections Act.—After passing accounts, &c., the Board adjourned.

BPHEYDON. The usnal meeting was held on Tuesday j present-all the members,—Correspondence was rend:—From the Treasury, advising pay. meet to the Board’s credit of subsidy of £l9B 3 1. —From Selwyn County Council, in reply re grant for clearing Heathooto and Hals well nvers, informing the Board that the amounts asked for were allowed.—Other correspondenoe was disposed of.—The Foreman’s report was considered, and several minor works ordered to be done.—Mr Hall pro* duced a deed of dedication of Johnston street, and asked the Board to take the control thereof, having formed and gravelled the same. It was agreed that as the terms of the former resolution had been complied with, the Board accedes to his request. —&t making roads, Bosowarne’s paddock, a counter petition having been presented, according to the Bating Act the Board , is unable to proceed further in the matttr.— Tenders were ordered to be invited for assessing the district.—lt was decided that the annual meeting of ratepayers bo held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at noon, for the election of two members in the place of Messrs Henderson and Smith, and the Beturning-OlSoor was instructed to advertise accordingly. Accounts amounting to £6l 7s 6d were pasted for payment, and the Board adjourned.
