MELBOURNE, Die. 12. Tine prosecutions initiated by the police against certain partita for raising ■weeps on the Melbourne Cap have been dismissed.
SYDNEY, Die. 22.
News has been received here that Mr Hair, Government agent, the mate and two Fijians, of the labour schooner Isabella, have been murdered by the Natives at Santo Island, in the Pacific. A case of small-pox is reported to have occurred at Begs, a small town in the south of this Colony, about 250 miles from Sydney. Precautions have been taken to prevent the spread of the contagion.
Tbe cricket match was continued to* day. Tbe local team were all disposed of in the first innings lor 210, of whioh Murdoch contributed 58. At the oloee of the day’s play the Englishmen had put together 145 runs for the loss of six wickets, Midwinter being not out for 45, and Bailow not out 26.
BRISBANE, Die. 12. At Brisbane Regatta pn Saturday the sculling race was won easily by Layoook.
