v ELECTION NOTICE. NEW ZEALAND TO WIT.—PROVINCE OF' CANTERBURY. H E N'R V M 0 S. S , .. . TTVEEPLY grateful for the proud position in which the unanimous voice of the public of Canterbury JL/ has now placed him, and fully sensible of the honor conferred upon him in being chosen as the leading representative of that interest which all who are conversant with the PRINCIPLES OE POLITICAL ECONOMY, , and the claims, requirements, and necessities of civilized man, acknowledged to be par excellence THE PUBLIC INTEREST, cannot now forbear to offer his sincere and heartfelt thanks to those numerous individuals, constituting the PROVINCE AT LARGE, who gave him their support, encouragement; and assistance, during THE LATE ARDUOUS STRUGGLE; and whose confidence, now reposed in him, it will be his delightful task ever to maintain and reciprocate. HEN R V MOSS ; disdains to practice the common electioneering trick of putting forth spurious promises never to be realised; but having been summoned by,the , UNI V E R S A L SUFFRAGE of his Fellow-Colonists to perform the highly important duties of his responsible position, he pledges himself in all things to use his best endeavours to secure the WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE, by strict attention to all the means in his power of promoting in their essentials the HAPPINESS AND COMFORT-OF ALL CLASSES. Having observed of late the errors committed by those who share with him public esteem, HENRY MOSS takes this opportunity of discountenancing the idea that strife and collision are conducive to She advantage of the state. He deprecates all warmth of feeling and desire to substitute only a feeling of warmth. All his acts shall have a direct tendency to ease the burdens of. the people, instead of iccreas-ing taxation. He will enact that EVERY SHILLING SHALL BE AS GOOD AS A CROWN, to those obtaining from him the first necessities of life. NO ONE SHALL GO TO LAW,....: for every one, guided by him, shall enter a suit such as will satisfy him; whether it be the stout one useful for Common Pleasing; the warm material adapted for an Icy (Prius) action; or the lighter article applicable to .
