_ The Kinnaird.—Messrs. Smith and Co. hare favoured us with the following extract of a letter re-.-wired from.the owners of the torque Kinnaird; Messrs. Park, Brothers, Londonrdated August 28th which willbe interesting to 'shippers :—lt is with that wehave to inform you that the first intelligence we had of theKinnaird leaving Wellington, was Of her.putting into .Eahi ft ; leaky, -and. to discharge cargo to -effect fepaixs. It appears she struck a rock in passing over Abrole's shoal on the 21st or 23rd June, {fine passage so far), remained on three-quarters of an hour/and found the vessel making so niuch water, that it • was impossible to ■prosecute the voyage. She reached Bahia on the 26th June., The divers examined her bottom, and found the false keel away. \ Keel very much chafed and part of ;the planking likewise. There was no alternative, but discharge and heave down. When tins is done, 'we expect the flat of the bottom amidships will be found in a very damaged state. The work of discharge, repairs, and re-loading will be tedious, so much so, that we do hot expect to see her •on this side of Xmae. One of our brothers has pro•ceeoed there by mail steamer to hasten the work" — Wellington Advertiser, Oct. 22. : ; ' Total Loss of the Prances Schooner.—This -vessel, of 103 tons, commanded by Captain Downie sailed from this port on the 16th ultimo, with a cargo of general merchandise, bound for -New Caledonia. By the arrival of the Provencal, yesterday, we learn that she got on a reef at the entrance of Port de I ranee, on the night of the Ist instant arid •fcecame a total wreck. The cargo is all lost, but all hands were saved. We believe she is insured — Sydney Morning-Herald, October 15
