GAZETTES,
The Auckland'mail brings us si copy of the General Government Gazette;' Number 30, dated 23rd September last. Among the miscellaneous items therein we observe nothing that concerns this .province, except the appointment of a principal Returning Officer for Canterbury, -which- is conspicuous for Its absence from a list of appointments for the colony generally. A writ of summons has been issued, calling the Honourable James Coutts Crawford, of the Province of. Wellington, to tho Legislative Council of the 'colony.
The important returns of Custom House statistics for the Quarter; ended .30th June, 1859, are published in this Gazette.. .They consist,, as usual, of a return of Customs revenue received at each port of entry in the colony during tho -quarter, compared with the return ior the corresponding quarter of 1858 ; areturn of the number, tonnage, and crews of vessels outwards and inwards at the several ports ; a return of the value of exports and imports at each port; and a declared return of the exports exhibiting the quantity and value of > each article exported.
