The Dart, CaptainJ Jenkins, left Sydney heads •late on the evening of the 29th July, and arrived in thfs port on Monday evening,.; having made a 17 days' passage. Foveaux Straits was made in .2 .clays, and the delay, -inthe passage, occurred off this, part of the coast, as six days were spent within siglijfc : of Banks Peninsula; j.i) an .-unruffled calm. ,7,Capt^in Jenkins reports iiavinginet no vessel,on"tHe way down;; but oh the ;afternoon of the day on 'which'he'left Sydney the steamer arrived there!from Otago, tlvis .port, and Wellington. '■ ■ ■■;'■-'■■■■■■■■:. ■;■■'■■ ■-■■'■.■'..., The Minerva has ai last arrived, having.been in. Wellington since the 14th of July. : She left .that port on Monday morning and had a fair, passage down. Part of her passengers are those who were coming on to this port from Melbourne in t'ho Valen-

"'HieMinerva is the same vessel which brought out 'Messrs.sWakeiield, Scwell and others to this port 4 from ..England in 1854, but since that time her rig shas^been'altered from a ship to a barque. Shehas ori'hoardnv large quantity of cargo consigned here, which, we^learn.lias suffered somewhat bybeing, overhauled in the process; of getting out-Wel-lington cargo while lying at that..port..,,-There are on board several passengers originally from London, who have accompanied the ship through. On their arrival in Wellington; they- testified their approval of Captain-Merryman-as an acquaintance.and.commander by offering him a testimonial signed by a great majority of the passengers, and accompanied by a valuable gold watch. ;There.is no news fromWellington. : .. - ' The screw-steamship Pirate^ Captain 'Robertson, arrived at Port Chalmers on ;morning,! having left Melbourne on Saturday evening, 30th inst. She has had a splendid 'run of nine days, including a day's detention at Western Port, where ; she called to take in sheep, and also a few hours at the Bluff, where shei landed some passengers and horses. We are glad to iind that the Pirate is "as full as an egg with general merchandize, and a cargo of timber and ■ several drays on deck. She brings twenty-one cabin and nineteen steerage passengers, nineteen horses, and a couple of hundred of sheep. On her upward voyage the Pirate experienced a continuance of very strong: westerly gales, during which several sails were split ;.she shipped several heavy seas, which carried away a portion of the buhvarks, and did other damage. She sails again i early next week for Melbourne, a full ship.— Colonist, Augusts. •' ■ . • ■■'■.''. ', ':
