J.K. begs further to assure the public of Kaiapoi that he will make it his study at all times toselect no goods that are not of first-rate quality, and goods especially fitting for all seasons, and suitable to meet the wants of the community at large. , Temporary premises are now open at the Assembly Rooms, with a general assortment of grocery goods. ' mHE BISHOP OF CHRISTCHURCH JL gives notice that the first meeting of the synod of the diocese will be held at Christchurch on the llth day of August next. The Synod will consist of three orders— 1. The Bishop 2. The Licensed Clergy . 3. .The Representatives of the Laity, 19 members, ' Any lay communicant of the.diocese may be elected to serve as a synodsman, or representative of the laity. Every layman of the age of 21 years and upwards who shall sign a declaration in the form following , "I do hereby declare that I am a mem- : berof the United Church of England and Ireland ! in New Zealand," : will be entitled to vote at the election of synods-' men for the parochial district in which he is resident. Voting papers, and further information may be obtained by application to any clergyman, or churchwarden, or returning officer. June 17,1859.
