'Home News' Office, . f Friday Afternoon, March 18. Various rumours are afloat in Paris. Ji is said -that the Lyons Bail way Company has received orders to keep its line in readiness for 75,000 men. It is also asserted that the squadron which recently ' left Toulon is to .proceed to Algiers for the purpose of embarking troops at that place. It is further reported that the conferences for examining the election of Prince Couza have been adjourned to an indefinite period. Lord Cowley arrived-in Paris : on Match 16. Berlin, March 12. There is a report in circulation to-day, which, if confirmed, will tend greatly to strengthen the 4iopes of the friends of peace. It is asserted that Baron Bulberg, the Eussian Ambassador, here, has .communicated to the Minister of Foreign Affairs a from Prince Gortschakoff, in which the .latter pronounces himself in a pacific sense, qnd ■promises to support Prussia and England in ttieir -endeavours to procure a peaceful:solution of the spending difficulties. The Russian Cabinet admits the necessity of the .maintenance of treaties, but advises a revision of the separate treaties of Austria with small Italian 1 -States. It is added that young Prince Gortschakoff, ! -f who recently passed through Berlin on his way from Warsaw to Paris, took a despatch to Baron Kisseleff identical with the one communicated at Berlin. The visit of Prince Souvarow to Paris is -attributed to the same cause. We hear from St. Petersburg that an imperial dated March 10, prohibits the exportation of horses from Eussia and the kingdom of Poland European frontiers. GeneralJefidokimoff .has laid seige to Schamyl's capital in the Caucasus. The Pope has announced before the .Consistory -that he did not claim the fulfilment of the demand . for the evacuation of the Papal States. His only «intention was to prevent a colision of the two ■'Catholic empires of his own dominions. The Pope -also said that he had entrusted his destiny to Providence, and that orders had been given for public .prayers for the maintenance of peace.'
