* RANGiTATA FERRY. npilE Provincial Government are prepared JL to receive applications from persons desirous of occupying the above ferry on the f o f. lowing conditions :— The contractor to build a house of accomtnoda, tioh on the ferry reserve, on the north bank of tl m river; to provide beds for at least six travellers and shelter for six horses ; to erect suitable stock! yard and sheepyard, and keep the premises in good and teriantable repair; to provide ahorse and to be ready at all reasonable times to convey paaseif. gers across the river on horseback at a charge 0 [ 2s. 6d. each ; to direct drays, and, if required, to accompany them, at a charge of 2s. 6d. each; and to erect and maintain a flag-pole 40 feet high, and keep a flag flying daily, from sunrise to sunset, on the terrace immediately above the house, so as to indicate the position of the ford to parties comin^ from the northward. n The Government will' give a gratuity in monpy and grant the free use of the two reserves of 100 acres each, fof a period of three years, if the con. ditional, license for the house is retained so long ; and will undertake to renew the tenancy for a further period of three years, on similar terms. And a license will be granted to cut timber on the Go. vernment Reserve in Talbot Forest, for the house, yards, uad fencing and firewood, for th£ first three years, free of charge. The Superintendent will grant a conditional license, free of charge, for the year ending 30th June, 1860, after which time application for it s renewal must be made to the bench of Magistrates in accordance with the Public House Ordinance. Any further information may be obtained at this Office. \ Applications must be sent in within two months from this date,, and be accompanied by testimonials of the fitness of applicants. FTTHE Provincial Government are prepared JL to receive applications from persons desirous of occupying the above Ferry on the fo]. lowing conditions: — The contractor to build a house of accbmodation on the ferry reserve, on the North Bank of the river; to provide beds for at least six travellers, and shelter for six horses; to erect suitable stockyard and sheepyard; and keep the premises in good and tenantable repair; to provide a punt or such other convenience as may be necessary to convey passengers or stock across the river at-all reasonahfe times from sunrise to sunset. The Government will give a gratuity in money, and grant the free use of 100 acres of the reserve, for a period of three years, if the conditional license for the house is,retained so long; and will undertake to renew the' tenancy for a further period of three years', oil similar terms. And a license will fee1 granted to cut timber on the Government Reserve in the Waimatamata Bush, for the house, yards, and fencing and "firewood, for the first three years, free of charge. The Superintendent will grant a conditional license free of charge for the year ending 30th June, 1860, after which, time application for its renewal must be made to the Bench of Magistrates, in accordance with the Public House Ordinance.
