WAITANGI FERRY. THE Provincial Government are' prepared to receive tenders from persons desirous of occupying the above Ferry oh the following conditions:— iThe contractor to build a house of accommodation on the Town Reserve; to provide beds for at. least six travellers, and shelter for sir horses; to erect suitable stockyard and keep the same in repair; to provide and keep in repair a punt for-the conveyance of travellers, horses, drays, cattle, and sheep, and to ferry the same across the river at the following charges, viz .— For every passenger on foot or h0r5eback...v...;................... 2s. 6d For every horse (exclusive of those ridden orin teams) " 2s. 6d. For every dray......;.. 5s- Od. For sheep per score. 6sr. Od; The Government will grant the free use of the Reserve of 640 acres, or such portion thereof as may for the time being remain unsold; and a small bonus; for. a period of three.years, if the conditional license for the house is retained so long, and will undertake to renew the tenancy for a further period ' of three years. The Superintendent will grant a conditional license free -ofcharge, for the period ending 30th June, 1859; after which time application for its renewal must be made to the Bench of Magistrates, in. accordance with the Public House Ordinance. Any further information may be obtained at this office. Applications must be sent in within one month from this date, and be accompanied by testimonials of the. fitness of applicants. THE Provincial Government are.-pre-'- ---; pared to receive fresh applications from persons desirous of occupying the above Ferry on the following conditions :— The contractor to build a house of accommodation on the Ferry Reserve, on the north bank of the river; to provide beds for at least six travellers, and shelter for six horses; to erect suitable stockyard and sheepyard, and keep the premises in good and tenantable repair; to provide a horse, and to be ready at all reasonable times to convey passengers across the river on horseback, at a charge,of 2s.,6d.each; to direct drays, and if required, to accompany them, at a charge of 2s. 6d. each ; and to erect and maintain a,flag-pole, 40 feet high, and keep a flag flying, daily, from sunrise to sunset, on the. terrace immediately above the-house, so as to ! indicate the position of the. Ford to parties coming from the northward. The Government will grant the freo use of the two reserves of 100 acres each, and a small bonus, for a period of three years, if the conditional license for the house is retained so long, and will undertake to renew the tenancy for a further period of three years. And a license will be granted to cut timber on the Government Reserve in Talbot Forest, for the house, yards, and fencing, and firewood, for the first three years, free of charge. The Superintendent will grant a conditional license free of .charge, for the year ending 30th June, 1859," after which time, application for its renewal must be made to the Bench of Magistrates, in accordance with the Public House Ordinance. THE attention of the public is called to the two following resolutions passed at the Meeting held on the evening of the 25th inst., in the Temporary Church, Christchurch*: " That it is desirable to enlarge at once the present Church, so as to provide not.fewer than 100 additional sittings." j " That it is desirable to commence a District Church on the Reserve at the rear of Mr. Longden's Residence."
