PROCLAMATION. 7'*^ By His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gobe. Browne, Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Go-, vernorand Commarider-in-Chief in/ and over Her Majesty's Colony of^ New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of' the same, &c, &c. , WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and-consent of the Legislative Council, Ses'H.' 3, No. 1, ■intituled "An Ordi-' nance for establishing a Supreme Court," the Governor of New Zealand is empowered, with the advice of the Executive Council, by Proclamation from time to time, to divide the Colony into District's, forthe purposes of the said recited Ordinance, and the limits of such Districts' from time to time to alter as occasion may require. ; Now, I, the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council; in pursuance of the authority aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare thaV for the purposes of the said Ordinance the said ' Colony shall from and after the fifteenth day of; November instant, be divided into Three Districts, to be called respectively the 'N&rtJiern' District; the Middle District, and the Sout/t- ; crn District. - I And that the Northern District shall in> "\ elude all that portion of the Colony which lies on the Northern side of the line which separates • the Provinces of Auckland and New Plymouth from the Provinces of Wellington and Hawke's Bay. And that the Middle District shall include all that portion of the Colony which lies on the ; Southern side of the above-named line, and on the Northern side of the line of "boundary between the Provinces of Nelson and Canterbury, and also the' Chatham Islands and coast adjacent thereto. . ■. . . •. . . And that the Southei^n District shall include all that part of the Colony which lies on the Southern side of the last mentioned boundary line, . : And whereas by the said recited Ordinance the. Governor is also empowered to assign to each of such Districts a Judge or Judges who shall, have within the same all the powers and jurisdictions thereby given to the Supreme Court: . Now, therefore, I, the Governor, in pursuance of such authority, do hereby proclaim and I declare that I have assignedto the Northern District . . . And whereas it is provided by; the said re-; cited Ordinance that there shall be holden Circuit Courts for the despatch of Civil and Criminal business-:ofctbe-j Couct,, before ; Qne_of_thfe Judges thereof, at such places.aij9 [at such times as the Governor shall, with the advice of the Executive Council, by proclamation from time to time apppint: : ', ; - ,.,,-- . Now, therefore, I, the Governor, with theadvice of. the Executive CouncH v do hereby,further proclaim and appoint that. Circuit Courts shall be holden for. the Northern District at the Town of Auckland.^ on the Twelfth day of January'next, and in every year on .the First day of March, the,. First day.of June, the First day of September, and the Ehrst day of December: and for the Middle District at the Town of Wellington; on .the. First day of. March, the.lEirst day of June,,the First day of September, and the First day of December in every year)" and at the Town of Nelson on the Fifteenth day of January, and the Fifteenth day of July in every year; and for the Southern District, at the Town of Lyttelton, on the First day of March, the First day of June..the: First day of September, and the First day of December in every year; or as soon, after the -said days respectively as conveniently may be. - ■ •;. And in case any one of the said days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a Sunday .orHoliday, then the Court appointed for such day shall be holden on the day following. '.'.
