TfiJS MOSCOW . STUDENTS AND THE POLICE.
Some time ago a rather serious conflict took place between the. students- of the Moscow University and the police force, with regard to which the former, lodged a complaint against the latter. In consequence of a special'command of the Emperor, a judicial inquiry was instituted, and the judgments, approved by the Emperor himself, were published on the 30th of July. The sentences are as follows ::— District-Tjieuteriant College-Secretary Sitnoliow^, for j imprudent conduct towards the students'; and instigating' the lower "ranks of the police force and other persons against the students, and, moreover, for false denunciation to his superiors and concealment of the real facts of the case—condemned to lose his.title, rank, and privileges, and to be degraded to tlie rank of a common soldier. Direct Inspector Titular Councillor Morosow, for riegilence, wrong acting, and concealing of unlawful deeds of the said Simonow—condemned to be dismissed from the service for ever.
Supervisor Court Councillor Zwiteniew, for negligence in the service-—condemned to be dismissed fronvthe service for ever.
