THE Provincial Government; are prepared to receive Tenders for the purposee of "The French Magazine Reserve," situate in Lavand Street, Akaroa, and the buildings thereon. The area of the Reserve is Oa. lr. 12p. or thereabouts, and, the buildings aye constructed of substantial materials! All tenders must be in writing, addressed to the Provincial Secretary, and must state the amount the appiicant is prepared to give for the, property. If the sum offered in any tender be deemed sufficient by the Government, the premises will' be put up to auction, pursuant to the Ordinance. By his Honor's command, JOHN OLLIVIER, Provincial Secretary. Provincial Secretary's Office. Christchurch, Dec." 21.. 1857. IMMIGRATION REGULATIONS. All persons desirous of obtaining assisted passages to the Province .of Canterbury in ■vessels under contract with the Provincial government, may receive assistance as : follows: — ■ 1. The Government will afford assistance equal in amount to the sum paid in- cash, bythe passenger. If there shall rbe a»y - balance,, the .Government will "advance, the sum, taking from the, passenger-.prgmis'sory^ !notes for .the amount advanced, payable to' ■ the Treasurer of the' Province. Such notes , will be made payable on demand, but, unless the passenger dispute the debt, or shall attempt to leave- the . Province, payment will only be required-in sums of five pounds, at a tinie, at periods of .three" months,'until the whole debt .is discharged. The firstpayment- to be made six months after landing. : ■ 2. Any persons resident-in the Province desirous of assisting their friends in England, or elsewhere, to obtain assisted passages to tho Colony may do so by drawing a. Eill -to the order of. .the" Provincial Treasurer accepted by a substantial householder, also resident in the Province, to be approved of by the Superintendent as sufficient security to the same;' this Bill .may .then be transmitted to the person who is _ desirous of emigrating io the Colony, and, .being by him presented to the Emigration Agent, will be received in'lieu of cash" payment, as hereinafter provided ; the Bill will be re-transmitted by the Agent to' the 1 Colony, nnd. must be paid immediately on presentation. " 3. Assisted passages will be afforded only to honafide labouring men, mechanics, and female domestic servants; but persons of all classes will be able to assist thuir friends to emigrate to the Colony by undertaking the 'payment of the whole of the passage money hi the manner above provided. 4. No person will be allowed any assistance unless he shall have been " approved of by the Emigration Agent in England. No single man above the age-of 40 years.no person above the age of 50, unless a member of a, large family; and no'person above CO years, und«r any circumstances, v/ill be allowed assistance. 5. When bills are ttndered in payment as cash in England, the emount of assistance gi\en by the Govprnrnent, wMI be one-half of the amount of Bills. The Provincial Government are unable at present to Bt.ite what the, rate of passage money to the Colony will be fixed; but all bills will he prepared on the'supposition that it will amount to £20, should it be less, a proportional part of tho.bills will be remitted at the time of re-payment. 7. Applications for assisted passages will bo received at the Sccretary'n Office, in Cljiislcliurch, and at the Resident Magis-' trate'H OlHco, in LytteUon.
