PROCLAMATION. WHEREAS I, William Sefton Moorhouse, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, did, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, prorogue the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury on the 2-ith day of February, ISSB, and the said Provincial Council, did stand prorogued accordingly till the 3rd day of September, 1858 ; and whereas it is expedient that the Session of the said Provincial Council shall be further prorogued : — Now, therefore, I, in. pursuance of the powers vested in me, do hereby further prorogue the said Provincial Council, and Summon the same for despatch of business on FRIDAY, the Ist day of October, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight. "YYTHEREAS a' Writ under the hand W of William Sefton Moorlioiisej Esquire, Superintendent of the "above province, bearing date the sixteenth day of Sept., in the Year of our Lord One Thousand- Eight Hundred aud Fifty:eight, hath been directed to me, Robert Latter, Esq., as Returning Officer for the Town of Lyttelton, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one legally qualified person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for the Town of Lyttelton, in the room of Robert Waitt, resigned. Now, therefore, I, the said Robert Latter, Esquire, Returning Officer for the said Town of Lyttelton, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice.* that a public meeting of the electors of the said Town of Lyttelton will be holden at the Town Hall, Lyttelton, on WEDNESDAY, the 6th day of October Next, at Noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for the said Town of Lyttelton, and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any" of them, such polling shall take place on Thursday, the 7th day of October nest, at the Court House, at Lyttelton.
