J I THE Provincial Government are preJL pared to recoive applications from persons desirous of occupying the above Ferry on the following conditions :— The cou tractor to build a house of accommodation on the Ferry Reserve, on the north bank of the river; to provide beds for at least sis travellers, and shelter for sis horses; to erect suitable stockyard and sheepyard, and keep the premises in good and tenant-able repair; to provide a horse, and to be ready at all reasonable times to convey passengers across the river on horseback, at a charge of 2s. 6d. each, to direct drays, and if required, to accompany them, at a charge of 2s. 6d. each; and to erect and maintain a flag-pole, 40 feet high, and keep a \ flag flying daily, from sunrise to sunset, on the terrace immediately above the house, so as to j indicate the position of the Ford to parties j coming from the northward. The Government will grant the free use of the two reserves of 100 acres each, for a period of three years, if the conditional license for the house is retained so long; and will undertake to renew the tenancy for a further period of three years, on similar terms. And a license will be granted to cut timber on the Govern-. ment Reserve in Talbot Forest, for the house, yards, and fencing, and firewood, for the first three years, free of charge. The Superintendent will grant a conditional license free of charge, for the year ending 30th June, 1559, after which time, application for its renewal must be made to the Bench of Magistrates, in accordance with the Public House Ordinance.
