"■ Still no News from Europe,"—-such is the expression with which every citizen greets his acquaintance on meeting in the streets. The weather —which sooth to say has been bad enough of late to evoke expressions of misery—has ceased to be the fashionable theme: of complaint, in presence of the moi-e pressing evil of want of advices from "home" and from the neighbouring colonies. Up to the hour of going to press, we have clung-to the hope that before this sheet met the reader's eye, we should have had some arrival that would allay the excitement occasioned by the long absence of the mail, but our hope is disappointed. Knowing how eager the community is to obtain intelligence, we shall, if the mail should arrive/ in the early .part of to-day, print an extraordinary sheet of the Times,'for timely circulation in Lyttelton, to-morrow, and; in time for the mail to Christchurch and Kaiapoi the same.day.
