The Corsair, brig, which has been for some months preparing for a whaling trip from this port, sailed on .Tuesday evening. The arrangements have been completed in such a manner as to ensure success in case of her falling in with good grounds. She carries two fine boats, —a five oar and a six oar, —with a complement of fifteen men, all told, and three months' provision. Captain Gay, who shares in the enterprise with a number of our principal merchants, certainly deserves great credit as well as luck for his indefatigable exertions to initiate another branch of export in our port, which, if the present en
terprise succeed, must encourage our mercantile community to follow up the trade on a larger and more important scale. He means principally to search the grounds along the coast, and run in occasionally with any oil he may have on board. He carries a white "flag with a blue square in centre, to distinguish the Corsair from other arrivals. ••
