AKAROA: PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY 7 TO WIT. WHEREAS a Writ under the hand. of William Sefton Moorhouse, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province,bearing date the eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, hath been directed to me; John Watson, Esq., as Returning Officer for the Akaroa District, in the said Province, requiring and, commanding me to cause to be elected by and from the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a member of of the Provincial Council for the Akaroa District, in place of Thomas Smith Duncan, Esq., resigned. Now, therefore, I, the said John Watson, Esq., Returning Officer for the Akaroa District, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice' that a public meeting of the .electors, of the Akaroa District will be holden ; ■ in the 'Court House, hi the Town of Akaroa, oh THURSDAY; the tenth day of June next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council, for the Akaroa District, and in the event of ~ a poll being demanded for the candidotes or any of them, such polling shall take , place on Friday, the eleventh day of June next, in the Court House at, Akaroa, in the School House at Pigeon Bay, and in the School House at Okain's Bay.
