was most tempestuous throughout, and proceeds to say:—" On the Ist instant at 4 a.m. experienced a succession of heavy squalls, with thunder lightning and rain, blowing so furiously from S. S. W. that the square sail was split, and mainsail and fore-try-sail double reefed. Ou the 2nd the ship was struck by a sea which started about 8 feet of her bow rail, and flooded her decks. On the 4th at 4 a.m. sighted the Three Kings; and at 1 p.m. was boarded by the Master of the barque Matador, of Melbourne, from Port Cooper, bound for Hokianga, who was supplied with such necessaries as he required. An hour afterwards a boat from the William Denny, short of provisions, went alongside, and received what could be spared- Mr. Scott is carrying ou the repairs of this unfortunate steamer with great vigour, and is sanguine of being able to remove her from her rocky berth in a little time. From the North Cape the Sybil has had to make a dead beat.
