NOTICE. AKAROA: PROVINCE OF CANTERBURY TO WIT. WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of William Sefton Moorhouse Esq., Superintendent of the said Province bearing date the eighth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-eight, hath been directed to me, John Watson, Esq., as Returning Officer for the Akaroa District, in the said Province, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a member of of the Provincial Council for the Akaroa District, in place of Thomas Smith Duncan, Esq., resigned. ISTow, therefore, I, the said John Watson, Esq., Returning Officer for the Akaroa District, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give notice that a public meeting of the electors of the Akaroa District will be holden in the Court House, in the Town of Akaroa on THURSDAY, the tenth day of June next^ at noon, for the purpose of nominating- one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council, for the Akaroa District, and in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidotes or any of them, such polling shall take place on Friday, the eleventh day of June next, in the Court House at Akaroa, in the School House at Pigeon Bay, and in the School House at Okain's Bay. . IMPORTANT SALE OF TOWN _,A_?D IN CHRISTCHURCH. MR. LONGDEN has received instructions from a gentleman about to leave the colony, to sell by Public Auction, at the Golden Fleece Hotel, Christchurch, on MONDAY, JUNE 7th, the following valuable property in the Town of Christchurch, viz :r— Four quarter-acre sections, situate on tbe South bank of the river Avon, in Kilmore and Antigua Streets, and numbered 121 to 124 on the Map of the Canterbury Association. # . . Two quarter-acre sections adjoining tbe Bricks Wharf, with the house and improvements thereon, now let to a respectable tenant to February next, at a rental of £40 per annum. Also, That valuable town reserve, situate in tbe Papanui Road, immediately opposite the new residence of the Bishop of Christchurch, and comprising 5 acres of land (or thereabouts) the whole being securely fenced and laid down in English grass, with house and improvements thereon.
