REGISTRATION OF VOTERS. ALL Persons desirous of having- their names added to the Electoral Rolls for.the ensuing year must forward their claims some time during the present month of April, stating the District or Districts in respect of which such claims are made, the place of abode, calling or business of the claimant, and the qualification in respect of which such claims are made. Each c: aim must be signed by the claimant, or by some other person in his name and by his authority: . Each claimant must forward two claims: one to entitle him to vote at the elections of members of the General Assembly; and the other to entitle him to vote at the elections of the Superintendent and members of the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury. In the former case the claimant must demand a right to register as an elector for one or more of the following districts, viz.:~ The Town of Christchurch, The Christchurch Country District, The Town of Lyttelton, The Akaroa District: In the latter case the claimant must demand a right to register as an elector for one or more of the following districts, namely : for— The Town of Christchurch, The Town of Lyttelton, The Kaiapoi District, The Avon District, • The Heathcote District, The Akaroa District, „ The Port Victoria District, The Ashley District, The Rakaia District, The Timaru District. All claims are to be addressed to the Resident Magistrate, and those for the four districts first above specified must be sent in as follows: those for the Town of Lyttelton, to the Resident Magistrate's office, Lyttelton; for the Akaroa District, to the Resident Magistrate's office, at Akaroa; and those for the Town of Christchurch, and the Christchurch Country District, to some one of the places named in the Provincial Secretary's notice, dated 29th July, 1857. In the case of claims forwarded through the post office,, the words "Claim to Register" should be written above the direction, and^ the postage must be pre-paid. It will not be necessary for persons whose names are on the Electoral Rolls now in force to cend in any claims for the district for which they are registered. ■ For the Resident Magistrate, THOS. I.
