2. Land so applied for will be put up a Public Auction, at the upset price specified on the List, not being less thaii after the rate of Fifty Pounds per acre. 3. Any number of sections comprised in one block, and named in one application, not exce;ding five acres, will be put up to Auction as one lot. 4. In evf ry case of purchase of land not exceeding half an acre, a deposit of Ten per cent, of the purchase money must be paid at the Auction, and the remainder within one week thereafter, at the end of which period if the purchase be not completed, the Section will be again immediately put up to Auction and the deposit forfeited. 5. Any quantity of land exceeding half an acre may be acquired either by absolute purchase on payment of the purchase money in manner provided by the 4th term of sale or by lease, the lessee undertaking to purchase the land on the following terms, viz.:—Ten per cent, of the purchase money to be paid at the Auction,—thirty per cent.witbin three years thereafter, —'.the remainder ou or before the expiration, of the lease. The lease to be for a term of }ear.s not exceeding Seven, at an annual rent of seven per cent, on the unpaid portion of the purchase money, and to contain, in addition to those implied under the Conveyancing Ordinance, covenants by the lessee for the payment o'~ t!;.purchase money as abovementioned, power to be reserved to the lessor to re-enter on the breach of any of the lessee's covenants. 6. The purchaser may obtain his conveyance, or lease, as the case may be, and may be put in possession, on payment of £1. " TENDERS will be received at this o&ce until noon on Thursday, the 15th day of April, 1858, for the conveyance of mails between Kaiapoi and Eangiora twice a week for 11 months, from, the Ist day of May, 1858. Mails to start from Kaiapoi on Mondays and Thursdays, half an hour after the arrival of the mail from CJhristchurch, and from Ranginra on Tuesdays and Eridays, so as to reach Kaiapoi by 11.30 a.m. AKABOA AND GRAIN'S BAY MAIL. . Tenders will be received at this office until noon on Thursday, the loth day of April next, for the conveyance of a mail weekly between Akaroa and Okain's Bay for 11 months, from the Ist day of Ma%, 1858. The mail to arrive at Akaroa from Gv =*v s J3a.y every JYiday, and to return to Okain's Bay not later than the Saturday forenoon following. No mail to exceed 28 pounds in weight. CH3ISTCHTTECH AND TrxiAEU 3TAIL. { Tenders will be received at this office until noon, on Thursday, the loth day of April next, for the conveyance of a mail fortnightly between Christchurch and Timaru for 11 months, from the Ist day of May, 1858. The tenders to state separately the charges of conveyance, if— t (1) The mail to start from Chnstehmch. every alternate Wednesday, at noon, commencing on the Ist Wednesday in May, and from Timaru on the following Wednesday, weather. permitting. (2) Or to return from Tiinaru not later than 24 hours after arrival there. Except owing to unavoidable accident, the mail not to be more than three Mays in summer, and four days in winter on the route; (summer months to be considered from Ist day of November to the 31st day of March; winter, Ist; day of April to the 31st day of October.) No mail will exceed 40 pounds in weight, GENEKAL CONDITIONS. Contractors will not be allowed to take up at any place within one mile of a Post Office letters or newspapers for delivery on the roadside without having them taxed at the office, and in like manner will not be allowed to deliver within 1 mile of any Post Office letters or newspapers taken up on the way, previous to their being taxed. But letters and newspapers may be carried by the contractors between places along the road which are more than a mile distant from the Post Office. Contractors must undertake to receive and deliver letter bags at such houses or places along the road as may be desired by the Postmaster. Contractors will he bound to proceed with mails without any undue delay or stoppage on the road after the hour of departing from the Post Office. The Postmaster to have the option at any time of delaying the carrier for half-an hc-tr after the usual hour for the departure of ti.o mail. Contractors will have to find Sureties for the performance of their respective contracts Penalties for breach of contract will be enforced as well by deductions from the amounts due to contractors as also by putting: heir bonds in suit- „ , Tenders will be received for either service separately, or for two or more services together, W.
