TENDERS will be received at this office until noon on Thursday, the loth day of April, 1858, for the conveyance of mails between Kaiapoi and Rangiora twice a week for 11 months, from the Ist day of May, 1858. Mails to start from Kaiapoi on Mondays and Thursdays, half an hour after the arrival of the mail from Christen urch, and from Rangiora on Tuesdays and Fridays, so as to reach Kaiapoi by 11.30 a.m. AKAHOA AND OKAIN $S BAT MAIL. Tenders will be received at this office until noon on Thursday, the 15th day of April next, for the convej'ance of a mail weekly between Akaroa afl"d Okain's Bay for 11 months, from ; the Ist day of May, 1858. The mail-to arrive at Akaroa from Okain's Bay- every Friday, and to return to Okain's Bay not later than the Saturday forenoon following. No mail to exceed 28 pounds in weight. CHEISTCHTTBCH AND TIMAET7 MAIL. Tenders will be received at this office until noon, on Thursday, the loth day of April next, for the conveyance of a mail fortnightly between Christchureh and Timaru for 11 months, from the Ist day of May, 1858. The tenders to state separately the charges of conveyance, if— (1) The. mail to start from Christchureh every alternate Wednesday, at noon, commencing on the Ist Wednesday in May, and from Timaru on the following Wednesday, weather permitting. (2) Or to return from Timaru not later than 24 hours after arrival there. Except owing to unavoidable accident, the mail not to be more than three days in summer, and four days in winter on the route; (summer months to be considered from Ist day of November to the 31st day of March ; winter, Ist day of April to the 31st day of, October.) No mail will exceed 40 pounds in weight. GENEBAL CONDITIONS. Contractors will not be allowed to take up at any place within one mile of a Post Office letters or newspapers for delivery on the roadside without having them taxed at the office, and in like manner will not be allowed to deliver within 1 mile of any Post Office letters or newspapers taken up on the way, previous to their being taxed. But letters" and newspapers may be . carried by the contractors between places along the road which are more than a mile distant [ from the Post Office. Contractors must undertake to receive and ! deliver letter bags at such houses or places ; along the road as may be desired by the Postj master. Contractors will be bound to proceed with mails without any umluu delay or stoppage on the road after the hour of departing from the Post Office. The Postmaster to hnve the option at any ■> time of delaying the earner tor half-an hour after the usual hour lor the departure of the Contractors will have to find Sureties for the performance of their respective contracts. 4 . Penalties for breach of contract will be enforced as well by deductions from the amounts due to contractors as also by putting 'h-sir bonds in suit- , .
