WELLINGTON.
The ship Hastings, Carrey, from London, anchored at the heads on Monday night. She sai ed from Gravesend on the 18th of November and had a splendid run of 77 days from land to land and 90 from port to port. She has brough? about 50 cabin and intermediate passengers,some of whom are returning from a visit to the mother country among whom are Lieutenant and Mrs. Buck, Mr. and' Mrs. Buck of the Taitav Mr. and Mrs. Kemble, and Mr. Bunny The passengers speak in high terms of the courtesy and attention of Captain Carrew .and Dr Clark, and have presented both these gentlemen with addresses in acknowledgment. of their kindness. The voyage has been a very pleasant . one; no deaths or births have occurred Qn board and the passengers all land in good health and spirits. She brings one day's, later English news.— lndependent, Feb. 17. , ' The barque Cresswell, Captain Barnett, arrived- m this harbour on Sunday morning last, from London via Nelson. She sailed from London on the 14th October, and called at Nelson where she' remained about thirty-six hours, and landed about sixty passengers for that place. The voyage, although rather a protracted one, was rendered pleasant by the kindness arid attention of both the Captain and officers The cargo for Nelson is still on board; and we understand that she returns thither as soon as her goods for this port.have been landed. A gentleman of the name of Mr. George Edwards died on the passage of consumption.— lbid. ' ' ■. SYDNEY. The Ocean Queen left Sydney for .Nelson on the 30th January. .' The Mary Clarke left Sydney on the )6th January for Nelson and this port. . She arrived in Nelson on the Bth instant, and was to leave in a few days. .-■'■ >■ The City of Sydney on her passage to Galle encountered strong headwinds and heavy seas notwithstanding which she reached Galle within one day of her appointed time. Her passengers were quite well, and spoke in higli terms of the vessel and her commander. Captain' Mbodie was very confident that he would arrive at Suez lyithin the contract time— Argus, Jan. 10.
