To the Editor of the Isytlelton Times. Sin, — Will you allow me through your columns to make a suggestion to the collective wisdom of the province now in Council assembled? The bridge over the north branch of the Waimakariri is not yet completed, nor, without making the slightest reflection on the proprietors, docs there appear much more prospect of its completion than there was six months ago. It is confessed on all hands that there is some incongruity, to say the least, in this roadway, over a river that is daily becoming more important to the province, being iv the hands of any pri-
vate person. Now that the Council will in all probability put a free bridge over the southern branch of the river, would not the present be a good opportxmity for the province repossessing itself of the right of way over the northern branch? I can scarcely imagine that the proprietor or proprietors of the bridge now erecting will put any impediment in the _way of the Council recovering that right, which in the former days of the province it parted with in order to provide the accommodation so much necessary for the traffic in the northern district. I remain, sir, Yours respectfully, B.
