VICTORIA.
We have intelligence from Melbourne to the 17th ult. The labours of the Legislature were neai-ly brought to a closo. The Long- Parliament.—Parliament is still in its first session—the Parliament which met in November of last year, and which is still sitting after a month's adjournment in November of the present year. It is now entitled to the name of the " Long Parliament." The following paragraph appears in the ' Herald' of the 14th ult:—" We are glad that prior to the departure of the English mail, we are enabled to publish such good news as is contained in the following report of Messrs. Clarke and Sons:— ' We have,' say those gentlemen, 'to report the arrival in town of one of the finest nuggets that have been discovered in Victoria—a mass of nearly solid gold, of 1743 ounces, from the celebrated lead of Kingower nuggets. This nugget is of exactly the same appearance as those from Kingower, which have at intervals during the last twelve months made their appearance at Clarke's gold office, and in fact has been found within a few yards of the spot where the first oue was taken.
