ELECTION OF SUPERINTENDENT.
We are enabled to give the following corrected state of the poll at all the polling places in the province, at the conclusion of the voting for Superintendent on Friday last. The figures here given will be found to be correct by the official announcement of the poll by the Returning Officer at noon to-day.
Total Majority for Moorhouse 375 Number of Votes polled 1079
The Glentanner dropped down to Pigeon Bay on Monday evening, and took up her berth a little below Sinclair's Bay, where she will lie to take in her spars. These are all ready, a slight 'difficulty only. occurring in finding a spar of even and sufficient thickness throughout for the mainmast. ■ The one now provided is a beautiful spar, . having nearly'fifteen feet greater length than that required. The Glentanner is expected to remain nearty two months in Pigeon Bay for her refit; and will then, it is said, proceed to Timaru to take in a cargo of wool at that port.
