TO THE ELECTORS OF AKAROA DISTRICT. /^1 ENTLEMEN,—-The Requisition \JC signed by a very large number of the constituency of your District, inviting me to become a candidalerfor your Representation in the Provincial Council, by some mischance has only just reached me. I take the earliest opportunity of thanking you for the confidence you thus repose in me, and in offering myself to become your Representative I trust that my fulfilment of the duties of that office will merit your approbation. I intend to avail myself of the permisison expressed in the Requisition I have been honored with, to remain absent at the time of election, a course which is rendered necessary by the appointment I hold here as Returning Officer.
