As you are pleased to overlook my comparatively short acquaintance with this colony, and seem willing to believe I will do what little I can to serve it, I shall put myself in nomination. I assure you that, whether returned or not, it will be my aim, as it is my interest, to promote the advancement and prosperity of the whole Province, and more particularly of the Lyttelton and Port Victoria Districts.
