GEORGE W. H. LEE. Kaiapoi, Oct. 10,1857. Although I have never appeared before you in any public capacity, and consequently may be unknown to some of you, yet I do not think it necessary to give any lengthened exposition of my political principles here, as that can be better done at the hustings. If you do me the honour to elect me, however, I will devote my attention to promoting the particular interests of this District, as well as the Province in general. I shall never lend my influence to the carrying out of any particular work to the detriment of that which is more immediately useful, but will endeavour to act independently and unbiassed by any political faction or party.
