PBOVINCE OF CANTBBBUBY TO WIT TIMARU DISTRICT. ■TTTiHEEEAS arWrit,^nder the hand of y T Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire Companion of the Moat Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, &c. &c bearing date the fourteenth day of JuW j n year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, hath been directed to me Belfield Woollcombe, Esquire^ as Returning Officer for the District of Timaru,' requiring and comaaanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner andj form by law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said District of Timaru: Now, therefore I, the said Belfield Woollcombe, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice that a public meeting of the electors of the Timaru District will be holden at the Resident Magistrates' Office,*Timaru, on Friday, the 6th day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Timaru District; and, in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Monday^ the 9th day of November next, at the following polling places, viz., At Mr. Macdonald's station, at the residence of , Mr. John Hay hurst, and at the Office of the Resident Magistrate, Timaru, The voting to commence at any time after nine o'clock, a.m., of the said 9th day of November, and to close at 4 o'clock, p.m., of the same day. ....'." WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief, in and over the Colony of New Zealand, <fee., bearing date the Fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fiftyseven, hath been directed to me, Thonias Rowley, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the Avon District, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, four legally qualified persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the said Avon District. Now, therefore, I, the said Thomas Rowley, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice that a public meeting of the electors of the Avon District will beheld at Mr. Gregg's barn, Riccarton, on Thursday, the sth day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating four persons to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the said Avon District ; and, in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Friday; the 6th day of November, at the following polling places, viz .*—• At the School Room, Papanui, and at Mr. Gregg's Barn, Riccarton.
