The Lyttelton Times. Wednesday, October 14.

There is a general calm just now in the political atmosphere. We have arrived at that part of the month when there is no news from abroad, and there is little to make up for the deficiency at home. Meantime the crops are growing and men are going quietly about their general avocations. Under the circumstances, it is perhaps our duty tp reflect the public apathy by being apathetic too. At any rate, our readers will not be sorry if we devote this issue to a collection of various items of news which we have received by the last mail, but which we have not as yet had space to publish in our columns.
