To the Editor of the 'Lyttelton Times.'
g IB) —Allow me through the medium of your journal to submit to the public the following facts. Mr. Moorliouse's partisans or adherents, or by whatever title it pleaseth them best to be designated, cause! my son's name to be placed on the Electoral Roll, merely for the purpose of striking it off. With the exception of one gentleman, who did not deem it worth his while to attend, the objection above alluded to was the sole one raised against Mr. Brittan's party. I moreover assert, without the slightest fear of contradiction, that I was informed by my dearly beloved " Uncle," three days prior to the completion of the Electoral Roll, that I myself had caused my son's name to be placed on the list of claims. This assertion of my "Uncle's" I firmly and fearlessly state to be a gross perversion of the truth —a viie political subterfuge, and altogether unworthy of the party from whom it emanated. I have thought it my duty to make this statement expressly fov the purpose of exonerating Mr. Tuvnbu.ll from any share in this flimsy political dodge; for I consider that, as agent to Mr. Moorhouse's committee, Mr. Turnbull has been treated, politically speaking, as a perfect non-entity. " Save me from my friends " is a wise saw, and peculiarly applicable as a modern instance to the supporters of Mr. Moorhouse in Lyttelton, who, I much fear, are blighting buds of promise that have blossomed in his favour as candidate for the forthcoming election of the Superintendent of this province. I remain, sir, yours respactfullv, EDWD. GENET. Norwich Quay, 29th Sept., 1857.
