WELLINGTON.

By the Auckland we have received WeIHW ton papers to Sept. 2nd, from which we extras the following latest commercial intellio-ence • "The remarks which we made las? week re latiye to business being very quiet, equally apply to the present. There has only been oup Auction sale during the week, viz :—Messrs Johnston & Go's., at which the attendance was good, and a large variety of merchandise dispos ed of. Eastern produce has advanced in price" but dealers are very shy in purchasing notwith' standing that the stocks on hand are not laree" Several small vessels have left Wellington this week, loaded with passengers, who have gone to \ try their fortunes at'the Aorere Gold-fields. We^ wish them all success, and that they maybe enabled shortly'to return to their homes with the results of their labour. We hear that, the flockowners are fearful of a scarcity of labour as a number of shepherds have already left for the diggings, and we anticipate that shearers from the neighbouring colonies will find a richer harvest at the stations in shearing time, than at the diggings." On August 25th, Messrs. Johnston &Co. sold by public auction, Akaroa Flour at £24 per ton.

- The Mills.— Another advance has taken place in the price of both wheat and flour since our last quotations. The following are the prices quoted at the Mills:—Wheat 10s to 11s per bushel; flour, £26 per ton; bran, 2s Od per bushel; pollard, 15s per 100 lbs.— Wellington Independent, Aug. 29.
