SALE OF TOWN RESERVES. PUBLIC NOTICE. HIS Hono:r the Sttfebintendent directs it to be notified -for, public information, that the Town Reserves of Christchurch are open for' Sale on the following .terms ; and that a map signed by.the Provincial Engineer,may be seen during Office, hours, in the Provincial Secretary's Office, Christchurch, setting forth the Sections into which the land will be divided for the purpose of sale, with a list attached, describing the number, measurement, contents, and upset price of every Section. 1. Every person desirous of purchasing any potion of the Town Reserves must make a written application, addressed to the Provincial Secretary, stating the section or | sections which he or she is desirous of puri chasing, and describing the same by reference to the number on the Map and List above referred to. , 2. Land so applied for will be put up at Public Auction, at the upset price specified on the List, not being less than after the" rate of Fifty Pounds per acre. 3.. Any number of sections comprised in one block, and named in one application, not exceeding five acres, will be put up to Auc-: tion as one lot. 4. In every case of purchase of land not exceeding half an acre, a deposit of Ten per cent, of the purchase money must be paid at the Auction, and the remainder within one week thereafter, at the end of which period if the purchase be not completed, the Section will be again immediately put up td Auction and the deposit forfeited. 5. Any quantity of land exceeding half aii acre may be acquired either by absolute purchase on payment of the purchase money in manner provided by the 4th term of sale-, or by lease, the lessee undertaking to purichase the land on the following terms, viz.s: —Ten per cent, of the purchase money to be paid at the Auction, —thirty per cent, within three years thereafter, —the remainder on or before the expiration of the lease. The lease to be for a term of years not exceeding Seven, at an annual rent of Seven per cent, on the unpaid portion of the purchase, money, and to contain, iri addition to those implied under the Conveyancing Ordinance covenants by the lessee for the payment of the purchase money as above mentioned, power to be reserved to the Lessor to re-enter oh breach of any of the Lessee's covenants. .6. The purchaser may obtain his conveyance, or lease, as the case may be, and "^jay be put in possession, on payment of £1. 7. Auctions will be held from time to time, at such time and place, and subject to such further Conditions of Sale as the Superintendent may direct, of all which due public notice will be given. "YTTHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of n Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and' Commander-in-chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, &c, &c, hearing date the fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, hath been directed to me Belfield Woojleoinbe, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the District of Timaru, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as-a Member of the Provincial Council for the said District of Timaru.- Now, therefore I, the said Belfield Woollcombe, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice that a public meeting of the electors of the Timaru District, will he hblden at the Resident Magistrates' Office,*Tiuiaru, on Friday, the 6th day of November nest, at noon, for the purpose of nominating a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the skid Timaru District; and, in the event of a poll being demanded for j the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Monday, the 9th day of November next, at the following polling places, viz., At Mr. Macdonald's station, at the residence of Mr. John Hayhurst, and at the Office of the Resident Magistrate, Timaru, The voting to commence a,f any time after nine o'clock, a.m., of the said, 9th day of November, and to close at 4 o'clock, p.m., of the same day.
