GENERAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTES.

By the late mail from Auckland we are m possession of several numbers of the General Government Gazette. The correspondence relative to the dissolution of the Auckland Provincial Council occupies a large number of pages of this work. By a Proclamation, dated July 24, the " Inwood Mill Ordinance" of last Session of our Council is disallowed. The Peacock Wharf Ordinance (No. 9), the Akaroa Jetty Ordinance, and the Kaiapoi Town Ordinance, reserved for his Excellency's pleasure, have been assented to. Other Canterbury Ordinances of last Session (all are not mentioned) have been left to their operation. Mr. R. J. S. Harman is appointed a Commissioner for hearing and determining claims to land in the Province of Canterbury, under the Nanto Bordelaise Company. Mr. Hugh Reid Bell has been appointed Locker and Assistant Clerk in the Customs at this Port. By Proclamation, dated August 1, the Provincial Councils of Wellington and Nelson are dissolved. Her Majesty's assent to the Governor's Salary Act, the Provincial Powers Act, and the Pensions Act (sums fixed at two-thirds of the original salaries) is notified. The remainder of the Acts of the, last Session of the General Assembly are left to their operation. We find published additional instructions from her Majesty to his Excellency the Governor, to summon to the Legislative Council five more persons than at present complete that body. The number will be accordingly twenty.
