FOLEY has the honor to announce to the public of Lyttelton and its vicinity, that the Theatre will re-open for a season of six nights only, on Thursday Evening, 10th September instant, under the direction of Mrs. W. H. Foley, who will conduct the establishment while Mr. Foley is temporarily absent for the purpose jof securing professional aid in the Dramatic and Equestrian line. THURSDAY EVENING, 10th SEPT., 1857. ! The performance will commence with (for the first time here) the Musical Burletta entitled THE SENTINEL. Linda (with songs, duetts &c, &c.) Mrs. W. H. Foley. To be followed by an interlude of songs, &c. The whole to conclude with (for the first time here) J. B. Buckstone's celebrated Farce entitled* THE DEAD SHOT. Louisa Mrs. W. H. Foley. Chatter (her first appearance) ... Mrs. Rae* For further particulars, see bills of the day. Peices of Admission: Boxes, 55.; Pit, 35. ; Children, 2s. 6d. Season Tickets, For six nights' performances, To the Boxes, 255.; to the Pit, 15s. The doors will be opened at a quarter to 7, to commence at a quarter to 8 precisely. Good order will be observed, and no smoking allowed on the premises. WHEREAS a Writ, under the hand of Thomas Gore Browne, Esquire, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, &c, &c, bearing date the fourteenth day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, hath been directed to me Belfield Woollcombe, Esquire, as Returning Officer for the District of Timaru, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said District of Timaru: Now, therefore I, the said Belfield Woollcombe, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited writ, give notice that a public meeting of the electors of the Timaru District, will be holden at the Resident Magistrate's Office, Timaru, on Friday, the 6th day of November next, at noon, for the purpose of nominating a person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council for the said Timaru District; and, in the event of a poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place on Monday, the 9th day of November next, at the following polling places, viz., At Mr. Macdonald's station, at the residence of Mr. John Hayhurst, and at the Office of the Resident Magistrate, Timaru.
