An auction sale took place at Messrs. Cookson Bowler & Co.'s Stores, on Monday; F v Noble Campbell & Co., Auctioneers. . The attendance was exceedingly good,' but there seemed no inclination to buy. "We notice brandy, whisky, rum, old torn and port wine were offered without being able to place any. Teas were started at £6 10s., but bought in> no advance being offered. Ground Coffee in tins, Is. per B>. A small lot of good cloth caps 545. per doz. About 40 cases oilman's stores were disposed of: bottled fruits @ 12s. per doz.; jams ,Is. 2d. per Ift. Sauces (chiefly Lea and. Perrin's Worcestershire) 7s. 6d. to 9s. Herrings, 2s. 6d. per 2-doz. (tins); 1-ib. tin lobsters, 18s. per doz. Coleman's blue, lOd, A bale of blankets was offered without getting a single bid. Throughout, the sale was slow: all bids were forced; and there were a great quantity of goods offered and passsed by. At Christchurch, on Saturday, Mr. Ollivier had a sale of draught horses, bullocks, and farm» ing implements, and Mr. Parkinson a 'sale of horses, imported overland from O,ago by Mr. S. Gibbs ; of the whole only three of the. latter lot were sold; viz., a brown mare, broken to all work, £65; dark chesnut gelding, broken to harness, £47; chesnut mare (in foal) unbroken, £35.

At the Saturday market in Christchurch, little business was done, and prices remain pretty much as last quoted. We notice a sale of one lot of 1000 bushels of white chaffed red wheat, a very fine sample, at 6s. 6d., and an offer of 7s. for white, but none of the latter was disposed of. A small parcel of oats changed hands at 9s. per bushel. £4 ss. per ton continued to be offered for potatoes. „ :

We have to notice the Robert and Betsy in harbour laid on for Melbourne direct. She has been during the past week filling up with produce, and is to sail this evening.
