Correspondence.
To the Editor of the Lyttelton Times. Sir,—One step haying-been gained in the internal economy of our postal business, viz., that letters to and fro between the Mother Country and these Islands are both pre-paid of necessity, let us hope that very soon, sooner than most things are done, all letters must be pre-paid, no matter where they go; and that to simplify the business in the department and keep down expenses, heads of our Queen maybe sent to every part of the province, with which it shall be imperative that all letters are pre-paid, and that the issue of these heads may be constant, regular, and impartial; the postmaster's deputy in our neighbourhood never had any. The use of heads would cut down the account keeping fin the offices to a very manageable limit. In the name of common sense, your obedient servant, CAPUT. Canterbury, 17th June, 1857.
