Markets.
March 17. Wheat remains at the price quoted last week, viz., 4s. for new, and 4s. Cd. for old. Very limited transactions are taking place, as few farmers will go* to the expense of thrashing out their crops in. the face of present prices ; the quantity offered is therefore veTjr small. " Flour.is quoted at the mills and in Cbristchurch.af. jt'Xb for average quality, or equal to nearly .£'l7 in Lyttelton, where late arrivals of fine, Chilian flour,..brought.in'at a much higher figure and now in store, prevent a fall in the price of bread beyond that lately noticed. Oats of a'good quality "for stable \\se readily fetch 65., but a great deal of inferior oats are in the* market, at ss. and ss. 6d. Barley is meeting with rather a : brisk demand ; 55..6 d. a bushel, cash, is. readily offered for exportation, but \ve believe purchases have been made by the brewers at 6s. for home'eonsumption. With regard to other items of farm produce, little or nothing can at present be said. RETAIL MARKETS. Lyttelton, March 17th. —Bread, per 4-lb.
